About The Position

Ensures proper procedures and organization in the shipping department are followed. This role involves training new employees, managing order organization, quality checks, maintaining warehouse cleanliness, and ensuring efficient department operations, especially when the Production Supervisor is unavailable. The Shipping Lead must be knowledgeable of specific customer instructions and proficient in completing shipping efficiency reports.

Requirements

• Previous manufacturing and/or warehouse experience
• High school graduate or GED equivalency required
• Read, write, and speak English
• Strong math skills
• Ability to learn and operate computer according to company programs
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and self-directed with little supervision
• Good organizational and communicational skills
• Safe operation of all warehouse equipment including tow motor, computer, calculator, scales, battery chargers, copier, telephone, and plastic wrap machine
• Read and use work order pick lists
• Follow all standard operating procedures
• Follow verbal and written instructions as assigned with customer orders
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with warehouse personal, plant operations and Logistics personal

• Experience with Logistics Management Systems (LMS) software platforms for warehouse operations
• Experience (Inbound / Outbound Freight Management) with Systems such as SAP, AS400, DatatexNow, and other applicable Systems
• Tow motor certified
• AS400

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper "switch" times for full vendor vehicles/trucks
• Train new shipping employees
• Ensure proper charging of all tow motors
• Organize the shipping of orders
• Check the quality of the product to be shipped out to customers
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and office
• Ensure efficient operation of the shipping department when the Production Supervisor is not available
• Is knowledgeable of specific customer instructions
• Read, use, and complete shipping efficiency reports
