About The Position

As a Shipping Coordinator at Steel Technologies, you will verify and maintain records on outgoing shipments and help prepare items for shipment to customers. The role requires multitasking, organization, and time-management skills, and contributes to delivering finished material to the right customers at the right time. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Starting pay is $18.75–$20.75.

Requirements

Ability to prepare shipping paperwork, inspect shipments, and dispatch freight to ensure accurate and on-time delivery to customers.
Ability to use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
Ability to multitask, manage time, and prioritize.
Ability to use the AS400 shipping system.
Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Prepare bills of lading through the AS 400 shipping system to ensure accuracy and optimal routing.
Attach certifications, matrixes, samples, and other items required by shop or customer orders.
Call and ensure prompt pickup and delivery schedules through truck lines according to routing instructions from sales, customers, and supervisors.
Inspect shipments and ensure the proper items are loaded on trucks by checking tags against bills before signing.
Ensure trucks are loaded according to loading instructions.
Check files, orders, and customer sequences for possible loads or late orders and notify the shipping supervisor.
Ensure shipments are complete and oldest items are shipped first.
Ensure accuracy of documentation, paperwork, shipments, competitive rates, inventory turns, and on-time shipments.
Account for all material and paperwork flow to the office.
Control the flow of carriers to meet shipping requirements.
Communicate non-compliance problems to the supervisor and/or shift lead.
