About The Position

This role involves performing local deliveries throughout the Portland metro area using a company truck or approved delivery vehicle. The responsibilities include safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading finished goods, materials, and other plant-related items. The position requires operating the company vehicle safely and professionally, adhering to all company policies, traffic laws, and customer site requirements. A key aspect of the job is overseeing and coordinating truck preventative maintenance, including routine inspections, service scheduling, maintenance tracking, cleanliness, and reporting any safety or mechanical concerns. The role also supports order fulfillment by picking finished goods, palletizing them, and preparing shipments for delivery. Additionally, the Shipping Clerk will load and unload trucks using a forklift, complete necessary shipping documentation, receive inventory into the computer system, and coordinate with freight carriers for pickups. Communication with the production team to understand order status and prioritize shipping needs is essential. Maintaining good housekeeping in various plant areas and filling in for shipping and production as needed are also part of the duties, along with backing up shipping functions and supporting daily plant operations.

Requirements

  • Always Demonstrate a Safety-First mentality.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Be able to safely operate a company box truck or delivery vehicle for local deliveries throughout the Portland metro area.
  • Be goal oriented, self-motivated, dependable, and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, customers, carriers, and team members.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Be computer literate and able to complete basic shipping, receive inventory, and complete delivery documentation.
  • Possess basic math skills.
  • Be able to safely operate, or become qualified to operate, a forklift and related material handling equipment.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling packaged materials.
  • Demonstrate a sincere interest and desire to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Be flexible and willing to support shipping, production, housekeeping, and other plant needs as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform local deliveries throughout the Portland metro area using a company truck or approved delivery vehicle.
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload finished goods, materials, and other plant-related items.
  • Operate company vehicle safely and professionally while following all company policies, traffic laws, and customer site requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate truck preventative maintenance, including routine inspections, service scheduling, maintenance tracking, cleanliness, and reporting any safety or mechanical concerns.
  • Support order fulfillment by picking finished goods consisting of buckets, drums, pallets, and totes to satisfy customer orders.
  • Palletize finished goods and prepare shipments for customer delivery, freight pickup, or internal transfer.
  • Load and unload trucks using a forklift and other approved material handling equipment.
  • Complete bills of lading, delivery paperwork, receiving documents, and other required shipping records accurately.
  • Receive inventory into the computer system and help maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Call freight carriers and coordinate pickups as needed.
  • Communicate with production team members to understand the status of customer orders and help prioritize shipping needs.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in shipping, receiving, warehouse, truck, and production support areas.
  • Fill in for shipping and production as needed based on workload, coverage, and supervisor direction.
  • Back up shipping functions as needed and support daily plant operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
