About The Position

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for organizing and scheduling shipments, communicating with carriers, customers, and vendors. This position is responsible for tracking and communicating the specifics related to shipments in an accurate and timely manner. The role involves coordinating plant shipping on the 2nd shift, assembling and reviewing transportation paperwork, assigning carriers and equipment, scheduling delivery appointments, coordinating daily shipments, monitoring pickups and deliveries, and resolving related problems. The clerk will also provide updates to customer service and sales, prepare various reports, and may need to work overtime and flexible hours. Additionally, the position may involve scheduling inbound loads, tracking CWG Assets, assigning trailers, and providing backup support to the shipping office during absences to ensure timely completion of paperwork and shipment readiness.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Shipping Clerk.
  • Basic computer skills in MS Office Software
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, walking, bending
  • Excellent communications skills

  • Must be able to work overtime and flexible hours when needed

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience recommended in the cabinetry or building materials industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Calling customers for all orders to schedule for delivery up to 5 weeks in advance for all locations.
  • Preparing and writing up the following days runs according to production order.
  • Preparing warehouse
  • Calling all customers for the following day’s deliveries with delivery times and verifying ship to address.
  • Assisting drivers when the need arises due to directions or unable to locate the job site or any personnel at the job site.
  • Taking out deliveries when the need arises.
  • Coordinate plant shipping on the 2nd shift
  • Assemble and review all transportation paperwork to support shipping and carrier functions
  • Assign carriers and equipment based on availability and delivery schedules
  • Schedule delivery appointments with customers
  • Coordinate daily shipments with carriers
  • Monitor pickups and deliveries and resolve problems affecting on time performance
  • Provide updates to customer service and sales
  • Prepare reports daily, weekly, monthly
  • Schedule inbound loads when needed
  • Tracking CWG Assets
  • Assigning trailers
  • Back up shipping office is needed during absences to ensure all paperwork is completed and loads are ready to ship on time.
