About The Position

TekniPlex is hiring a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor for our Ridgefield, NJ facility. This role supervises and coordinates activities of hourly, nonexempt employees engaged in shipping and receiving of products, components, and/or replacement parts. The supervisor is responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. Additionally, the role compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of required items. The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $68,000 annually, with pay based on experience.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED
  • 5 plus years of related experience
  • Experience in the operation of spreadsheet, word processing, and ERP programs for data input and retrieval
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Accuracy and organizational skills are required
  • Good math aptitude and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated team facilitation and leadership skills along with success in implementing process improvements in conjunction with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and legibly complete time cards and work orders.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and read blueprints and technical drawings, such as machine, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Assigning tasks and driving performance of the shipping and receiving team.
  • Overseeing incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments for both domestic and international.
  • Working with shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Working with management to establish and modify department operational methods and procedures.
  • Ensuring that goods are packaged and protected for shipping according to specifications.
  • Determining space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and laying out position of shipment.
  • Determining routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
  • Inspecting loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Directing movement of shipments from shipping/receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Maintaining reports, records, and documentation to reflect department activities.
  • Preparing bills of lading and posting weight and shipping charges when needed.
  • Analyzing performance of existing shipping/receiving systems, evaluating and recommending innovative programs to improve distribution methods and implement cost reductions.
  • Utilizing the ERP system and PC software to enter orders.
  • Managing scrap storage, ensuring all scrap data is entered into ERP system accurately and promptly.
  • Preparing weekly schedule and auditing daily to ensure meeting commitment dates.
  • Coordinating raw materials, supplies, and personnel for proper utilization.
  • Working closely with Production Supervisors to maximize efficiency by monitoring production against standard.
  • Contacting suppliers about adjustments, incorrect material, delivery delays, etc.
  • Obtaining quotes, prices, and delivery information for goods that have standard costs and quoted discounts in place.
  • Reporting metrics such as on-time shipments, inventory accuracy, shipping errors, and safety.
