About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Material Handler assists with shipping and/or receiving raw materials used in production. The role loads, unloads, and stacks materials in designated locations and supports the movement of raw materials and finished goods within the facility. The handler operates forklifts, cranes, tilters, band crimps, and other tools and equipment; acts on shipping releases as directed by the Shipping Lead or Supervisor; and follows the fundamental principles of BlueScope Coated Products’ Quality and Environmental Management System. The position communicates daily with personnel in Sales, Maintenance, Operations, and Quality Control to help resolve problems and achieve company goals. The work environment includes occasional proximity to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold or heat. Noise levels are moderate. The stated pay range is $24.00 to $25.50 per hour. BlueScope offers health insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid time off, and retirement benefits.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Responsibilities

Load and unload raw materials and/or finished goods from trucks and other freight-hauling vehicles.
Safely move and stack materials between designated locations within the facility.
Operate forklifts, cranes, tilters, band crimps, and other tools and equipment.
Collect and act upon shipping releases as directed by the Shipping Lead or Supervisor.
Understand and comply with the fundamental principles of the Quality and Environmental Management System.
Communicate with personnel from Sales, Maintenance, Operations, and Quality Control to help resolve problems and achieve company goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
