About The Position

This role is primarily responsible for the processes involved in the receipt and/or shipping of material to ensure items being stowed or shipped meet customer requirements. The position may involve the use of anti-static devices and reports to a Designated Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) months general work experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • May substitute experience for education at the rate of one year of general experience for one year of high school.
  • Must be able to obtain license to use MHE within 30 days of selection.
  • Must be able to successfully complete Inert Certification training requirements.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds for short distances.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, walk, have full dexterity, and correctable vision.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment with hazardous equipment, moving MHE, obstacles, and high volume of activity.
  • Ability to work outside in hot and cold or wet weather.
  • Ability to work in an environment with fumes or airborne particles.
  • Ability to work in a loud noise level environment.
  • Must use protective devices to avoid injury.
  • Available, on short notice, to work all shifts in multiple work areas as required (in some locations).
  • Frequent evenings and Saturday shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, examines, classifies, accepts, rejects, and disposes of material as per regulations.
  • Performs visual examination or uses measuring devices and techniques under mentoring assistance of senior personnel.
  • Uses basic processes of inspection/examination procedures for material.
  • Reads specifications and photographs as/if required in DLA contract.
  • Uses blueprints, schematics, etc., under mentoring of senior personnel.
  • Loads material on and off of skids, pallets, stands.
  • Prepares labels as required.
  • Prepares basic reports.
  • Operates tools and equipment in performance of duties.
  • Receives data from and inputs data to automated systems in performance of receiving/shipping duties.
  • May operate material handling equipment as assigned and hold appropriate license.
  • Counts, weighs, records data, applies tags and labels.
  • Makes preventive maintenance adjustments to related equipment.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by developing and maintaining safety practices, completing training, fulfilling self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response, and serving on safety committees.
  • Conforms to the Quality Policy and carries out job activities in compliance with applicable Quality System documents and customer contracts.
  • Reads, understands, and implements general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to the job.
