Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Our client is looking for someone organized and proactive to take ownership of the warehouse and who has shipping experience operating the common shipping platforms. This role will ultimately cross train into the parts department. Our client is a family-owned and operated business that has specialized exclusively in Volvo Penta marine products since 1988. They are looking for a reliable and motivated Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join their growing team! Position Summary The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for verifying and recording incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting warehouse operations. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. What does a typical day look like? Review the previous afternoon shipments, using Fedex Ship Manager, USMail, UPS and sometimes DHL. Boxing up and shipping out inventory. Help monitor the warehouse.
Requirements
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Basic technical aptitude and computer proficiency
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing ladders, and standing for long periods
- Prior experience in shipping/receiving or a warehouse setting preferred
- Positive attitude and team-first mindset
Nice To Haves
- Forklift operation experience a plus
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments; reject or report damaged or missing items
- Pack and ship marine parts and products accurately and efficiently
- Operate forklifts, lift trucks, and hand trucks to move materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking through system updates and physical counts
- Evaluate shipping carriers and options for cost-effectiveness and reliability
- Take photos and report poor packaging from vendors to management
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of marine parts and participate in product training
- Engage with customers courteously and professionally, in person or via phone, text, and email
- Support promotional efforts and encourage positive customer reviews on platforms like Yelp and Google
- Contribute to documentation systems for continuity and cross-training within the team
