About The Position

As an academic medical center with a rich history of providing life-saving treatment in Southern Nevada, UMC serves as the anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada’s highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients. Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in warehouse receiving, ordering, stock clerk, and inventory.
  • Knowledge of methods and practices of storing and issuing materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge of department and hospital safety practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of patient rights, age-specific patient care practices, and infection control policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
  • Skill in scanning and sorting incoming and outgoing stock.
  • Skill in receiving, stocking, stacking, pulling, packing, and loading.
  • Skill in time organization.
  • Skill in analytical and problem solving.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Skill in using computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties.
  • Skill in efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
  • Mobility to work in a typical stores or warehouse setting, including the operation of standard office equipment.
  • Stamina to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Strength to lift and maneuver equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment.
  • Vision to read printed materials including a computer screen.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone.
  • Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

Nice To Haves

  • Some positions in this class may be required to maintain a current forklift certification.
  • Certain positions may require mobility to safely operate a motor vehicle and/or material handling equipment including a forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving supplies, implants, and equipment, documenting date and entering counts into the system.
  • Preparing daily outgoing shipments for pick up, entering into the system where appropriate.
  • Assisting in the daily issue of supplies and ticketing charge items as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing packages.
