About The Position

Tri-City Group is seeking an experienced Shipping & Receiving Assistant for an immediate opening in Davenport, IA. This role is responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying deliveries, organizing warehouse materials, and ensuring the safe and accurate flow of materials throughout the facility. The assistant will support field and project teams by accurately distributing materials, maintaining organization, and adhering to safety standards within a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a warehouse, shipping/receiving, checking in materials, and performing inventory
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Successful completion of a drug screening test
  • Possibly, an MVR background check
  • Steel-toe or composite-toe shoes/boots are required prior to your first day

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
  • Unload delivery trucks and move materials to designated storage or staging areas
  • Accurately match materials with job-specific purchase orders and communicate discrepancies to project management
  • Read and interpret shipping orders, customer orders, and requisitions to determine items to be gathered, packed, or shipped
  • Pick, pack, and prepare materials for job site deliveries or outbound shipments
  • Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins based on size, type, or product code
  • Label and mark materials with proper identifying information
  • Record material movements and inventory updates in the appropriate software system
  • Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and accessible, maintaining a safe work environment
  • Prepare parcels for mailing
  • Relocate materials to holding areas, staging zones, or loading docks as needed
  • Open crates, bales, and containers and inspect contents for damage or discrepancies
  • Perform basic facilities maintenance and janitorial tasks as assigned
  • Wear proper PPE and follow all warehouse safety protocols
  • Support general warehouse operations and assist with inventory control and cycle counts
  • Consolidate, organize, and palletize material to maintain a tidy storage area
  • Coordinate, prepare, and stage outbound LTL and dedicated truck load shipments
  • Perform other duties as assigned
