About The Position

VAL-CO is a leader in commercial poultry, egg, and swine production equipment, specializing in poultry watering and feeding systems. The company is hiring a full-time Shipper at its Coldwater, Ohio facility. This position prepares, stages, and loads customer orders for freight, UPS service, and customer pickup; coordinates order status with distribution center supervision; and ensures shipments are safely packaged and loaded. The role also involves customer assistance, completing paperwork and computer transactions, and maintaining a safe, orderly work area.

This is a second-shift position, with hours from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Starting wages depend on experience, with top-out pay of $28.06 and a $2.50 second-shift differential. Generous paid time off is available after completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Requirements

• Valid forklift certification and a valid driver license.
• Good working knowledge of the company computer system and products.
• Good basic math skills.
• Ability to interact successfully and courteously with others.
• Good organizational and decision-making skills.
• Ability to read and properly complete required paperwork.
• Ability to visualize loads and create packaging as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and load orders for motor freight, including truckload and less-than-truckload shipments, UPS service, and customer pickup, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Organize the staging and loading of customer orders.
• Communicate with distribution center supervision about customer order status and any required changes or adjustments.
• Ensure orders are safely packaged and properly loaded to prevent shipment damage.
• Assist customers and visitors courteously and promptly.
• Complete required paperwork and computer transactions accurately and on time.
• Follow safety requirements and keep work areas neat and orderly.
