About The Position

Shipfitters use a variety of tools and equipment to fabricate, assemble, and erect metal parts for modular units used in different stages of marine vessel construction. The job is located in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The stated pay is $30.00 per hour.

Requirements

• At least 2–4 years of craft experience.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to operate a grinder and pass a tack welding assessment test.
• Ability to read a tape measure in standard and metric units.
• Knowledge of basic blueprints and ability to fit flat butt joints with little or no supervision.
• Ability to burn and bevel using a hand torch; use hydraulic and ratchet jacks, chain falls, and come-alongs; and work with hand tools such as combination squares, framing squares, hand levels, and plumb bobs used in marine and construction environments.
• Ability to pass a drug test (HFT) and E-Verify.
• Ability to work all shifts.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, ascend and work at heights, and work under all weather conditions.

• Fit flat butt joints with little or no supervision.
