About The Position

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for operational execution, guest experience, compliance oversight, and real-time problem-solving during their shifts. This role involves leading the sales floor, supporting Retail Associates, managing cash handling and inventory, and ensuring the store remains safe, compliant, and welcoming. When store leadership is unavailable, the Shift Supervisor acts as the Manager on Duty. This position works closely with the Retail Manager and Assistant Manager to achieve store goals and maintain consistent operations. Responsibilities may include supporting operational investigations, inventory reconciliation, security procedures, and cannabis deliveries.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Michigan cannabis regulations, security requirements, inventory procedures, and age verification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, setting the tone for a positive, accountable, guest-focused shift.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when store leadership is away.
  • Build shift assignments and break schedules.
  • Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and support to Retail Associates.
  • Escalate employee performance concerns to management.
  • Support onboarding and training for new team members.
  • Maintain accountability around attendance, punctuality, and performance.
  • Monitor transaction flow and guest wait times during peak hours.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures.
  • Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and efficient.
  • Cover point-of-sale duties as needed.
  • Deliver advanced product knowledge to guests and team members.
  • Assist with line management during high-volume periods.
  • Ensure every guest interaction reflects hospitality standards.
  • Support daily sales and operational goals.
  • Perform opening and closing inventory procedures.
  • Support inventory receiving and count procedures.
  • Assist with inventory investigations and reconciliation.
  • Ensure daily counts are completed accurately and escalate discrepancies.
  • Maintain compliance with all state cannabis regulations, security procedures, and company policies.
  • Run daily compliance and ID verification briefings.
  • Support compliance-focused training and operational consistency.
  • Ensure transaction accuracy, including correct products, pricing, discounts, and payment processing.
  • Provide cash drops and change to POS stations.
  • Support cash discrepancy investigations and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate cash deposits through approved third-party courier services.
  • Support investigations involving operational incidents, security concerns, inventory discrepancies, or cash handling issues.
  • Review surveillance footage and access control records as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and neutrality during investigations.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant, and inclusive work environment.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by retail leadership.
  • Contribute to operational initiatives and process improvement efforts.
