About The Position

The Shift Supervisor for the Community Connections department is a semi-professional role focused on team-based management and supervision of staff and individuals in community-based settings, providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in their scheduled daily activities. Supervised by a Program Supervisor, Director, or other professional staff, the Shift Supervisor is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative while adhering to established policies and procedures. This role involves training and support for individuals in areas such as daily life skills, cooking, cleaning, hygiene, purchasing groceries, food preparation, medication administration, behavioral care, and community participation. Additionally, the Shift Supervisor will train and support staff by helping implement personal plans, maintaining records, and contributing to a therapeutic environment. Requirements

  • Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalent.
  • Six months experience providing direct care, treatment, and habilitation in the human service field.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to work with and respect persons with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to work varied and flexible hours, to accept and adapt to changes in assignments, methods, policies, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic non-professional techniques used in assisting in the care, treatment and habilitative programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of elementary behavior support techniques.
  • Knowledge of the principles of management and supervision of personnel.
  • Ability to supervise, review and evaluate the work of assigned personnel.
  • Ability to implement and supervise individual and group habilitation programs.
  • Ability to accurately report, record observations, and supervise these activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs., and pull and push items.
  • Ability to maintain a record of punctuality and attendance.
  • Ability to be organized and efficient to complete all listed duties in a timely manner.
  • Ability to follow the chain of command and ask for help when needed.
  • A licensed and insured driver, with ability to obtain a Missouri Class E driver license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing direct care, treatment, and habilitation to individuals who have intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and/or behavior disorders is preferred.
  • Experience in providing assistance in the care, treatment and habilitation to individuals who have developmental disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in engaging in their scheduled daily activities.
  • Train and support staff in implementing personal plans, maintaining records, and contributing to a therapeutic environment.
  • Assist individuals with daily life skills including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, purchasing groceries, food preparation, medication administration, behavioral care, and community participation.
  • Implement and communicate directives from supervisors.
  • Maintain necessary records and reports.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals served.
  • Check home safety and cleanliness according to standards and teach individuals to maintain their homes.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and supervision in the absence of a Program Supervisor or Team Manager.
  • Administer medications after certification.
  • Assist with physicians' appointments and ensure correct documentation.
  • Report rule infractions, complaints, and incidents.
  • Assist individuals with securing and managing personal funds.
  • Assist with purchasing groceries, medical, and cleaning supplies.
  • Supervise meal activities and assist individuals as necessary.
  • Assist in providing basic health care, taking vital signs, and applying simple dressings.
  • Observe, report, and record changes in the physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of individuals served.
  • Implement outcomes and strategies of individual personal plans.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies.
  • Take appropriate action in case of fire or disaster.
  • Develop plans for evacuation assistance in case of emergency.
  • Complete or supervise all monthly filing, including summary sheets, MARs, nurse consultations, accident/injury/incident reports, budgets, and general event reports.
