About The Position

The Connection Coordinator works 40 hours a week (school year) and 40 hours a week (summer) at Oscar Howe Elementary school. The Connection/Site Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. The Connection/Site Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with the school staff, parents, and community members. This role plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities and programs, overseeing coordination of school events, collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents, managing administrative tasks, implementing safety protocols, coordinating extracurricular activities, serving as a liaison, and supporting educational initiatives. The coordinator also provides individual student support, coordinates expanded learning opportunities, facilitates family and community engagement, and contributes to integrated student supports and collaborative leadership.

Requirements

  • CDA (Child Development Associate Credential)
  • 2+ years of Child-Care/After School Care background
  • Degree in related field
  • CPR/AED Certification (Must obtain with first 30 days of employment)
  • Desire to take an active role in planning and implementing programing for School-aged children

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an School Age Care setting or similar experience with school age children
  • Previous Supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the coordination of school events, meetings, and activities to promote student engagement and parental involvement.
  • Collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance communication and foster a positive school environment.
  • Managing administrative tasks such as student attendance, records, and data entry.
  • Implementing and monitoring safety protocols to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
  • Coordinating and supporting extracurricular activities, field trips, and special projects.
  • Serving as a liaison between school leadership, parents, and the broader community.
  • Supporting the implementation of educational initiatives and school improvement plans.
  • Work closely with school faculty and staff to determine students in need of support and what support and interventions they need during school day and out of school time hours.
  • Provide regular support to students and families in: improving attendance, meeting basic student and family needs (clothing, food, etc), providing social-emotional support, connecting the student to needed tutoring and other forms of academic assistance.
  • Collect, report, and analyze student data to track student progress.
  • Coordinate services in response to student and family needs (individual and family); Ensure that our highest risk student population needs are addressed.
  • Support student transition times (e.g. from grade-to-grade and school-to-school).
  • Work in collaboration with afterschool and summer providers in the implementation of programming.
  • Coordinate opportunities for program enhancements within the afterschool and summer program.
  • Oversee regular communication meetings between the school day and afterschool staff.
  • Identify and provide support for students needing academic enrichment (e.g. tutoring).
  • May be required to provide direct care during school day or out-of-school time hours.
  • Connect in meaningful ways with families through various means to ensure their voices are heard and needs are being identified and met.
  • Lead or participate in family engagement events with the school and community partners.
  • Coordinate educational opportunities for the family related to academics, basic life skills or other identified needs.
  • Build strong relationships with school partners and diverse community stakeholders, and identify opportunities for them to align services critical to school and community needs with student populations.
  • Gather, analyze, and use data to inform decisions and keep meetings results-focused.
  • Assist in the coordination of mentoring programs to enhance student outcomes.
  • Set and work toward goals in collaboration with agency, school principal and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate regularly with agency and school leadership and staff.
  • Participate in agency, school, and community leadership teams/meetings.
  • Provide collaborative and timely communication to appropriate partners.
