The Shift Supervisor serves as the on-duty point of contact for staff during assigned shifts, ensuring quality resident care, staff support, and compliance with policies and procedures. This role provides hands-on assistance to residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), administers medications, and supervises team members in accordance with the New Friends Vibrant Life philosophy. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of experience working with individuals living with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease required.
  • Must be compassionate, reliable, and observant, with an understanding of medication administration records (MARs) and physician orders.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to safely push and pull wheelchairs occupied by residents.
  • Frequent use of hands and repetitive motion.
  • Safe body mechanics required at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • LPN license preferred with 3–5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Float between lodges to ensure staff are following policies and procedures, residents are cared for safely, and provide support or guidance as needed.
  • Oversee and verify completion of shift task lists.
  • Document and report incidents (e.g., falls, injuries, or safety concerns).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Care Friends, Med Passers, and family members during the shift.
  • Carry the scheduling phone as assigned.
  • Answer incoming calls on the landline when available.
  • Train and mentor new and current staff members.
  • Administer corrective action or discipline when appropriate.
  • Promote teamwork and assist in building a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Maintain and monitor medication inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
