About The Position

The Shift Supervisor at SOWEGA/Baconton Power Station in Baconton, Georgia, oversees station operations and performs Control Room Operator duties to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. The facility has four GE LM6000 gas turbines in a simple-cycle configuration and can produce up to 192 megawatts. The role leads safety compliance, maintenance planning, operational documentation, and use of the CMMS to support equipment reliability. It also mentors operations personnel, assists with staffing, and works closely with the Plant Manager and other departments, as well as external stakeholders. The Shift Supervisor leads plant personnel and all associated processes, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The role involves a 12-hour rotating schedule, alternating between day shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and evening shifts from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and periodic callouts or on-call status may be required. Some travel may be involved for offsite meetings. Work takes place in a power plant environment that may involve confined spaces, narrow areas, hazardous materials, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise, high heat, and varying outdoor weather. Physical demands include prolonged standing, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment may be required, and respirator fit testing may be necessary. Employees participate in a Fitness for Duty Program that includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
