About The Position

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for keeping operations running smoothly during their shifts. As a floor leader, this role is the primary point of contact for guests and team members needing assistance or problem resolution. The Shift Supervisor oversees operational execution, guest experience, compliance, and real-time problem-solving. Key duties include leading the sales floor, supporting Retail Associates, managing cash handling and inventory, and ensuring the store is safe, compliant, and welcoming. When store leadership is absent, the Shift Supervisor acts as the Manager on Duty. This role collaborates with the Retail Manager and Assistant Manager to achieve store objectives, maintain operational consistency, and contribute to a positive work environment. The position may involve alarm access and supporting operational investigations, inventory reconciliation, security procedures, and cannabis deliveries.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Michigan cannabis regulations, security requirements, and inventory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, setting a positive and accountable tone for the shift.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty in the absence of store leadership.
  • Build shift assignments and break schedules.
  • Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and support to Retail Associates.
  • Escalate employee performance concerns to management.
  • Support onboarding and training for new team members.
  • Maintain accountability for attendance, punctuality, and performance.
  • Monitor transaction flow and guest wait times during peak hours.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient sales floor.
  • Cover point-of-sale duties as needed.
  • Deliver product knowledge to guests and team members.
  • Assist with line management during high-volume periods.
  • Ensure guest interactions align with hospitality standards.
  • Support daily sales and operational goals.
  • Perform opening and closing inventory procedures.
  • Support inventory receiving and count procedures.
  • Assist with inventory investigations and reconciliation.
  • Ensure daily counts are completed accurately and escalate discrepancies.
  • Maintain compliance with state cannabis regulations, security procedures, and company policies.
  • Run daily compliance and ID verification briefings.
  • Support compliance-focused training and operational consistency.
  • Ensure transaction accuracy, including products, pricing, discounts, and payment processing.
  • Provide cash drops and change to POS stations.
  • Support cash discrepancy investigations and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate cash deposits through approved third-party courier services.
  • Support investigations involving operational incidents, security concerns, inventory discrepancies, or cash handling issues.
  • Review surveillance footage and access control records as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and neutrality during investigations.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant, and inclusive work environment.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by retail leadership.
  • Contribute to operational initiatives and process improvement efforts.
