About The Position

The TVP Shift Supervisor oversees operations at our TVP manufacturing plant, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental guidelines. This role involves hands-on leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to employee well-being. The Shift Supervisor directs the operation of the facility and coordinates daily tasks for hourly production employees. They address employee concerns, maintain good communication, and encourage safe practices. Additionally, the role plays a crucial role in training new employees and coaching existing staff. The schedule has the possibility for increased hours during plant shutdowns and plant needs.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the operation of the TVP facility, ensuring compliance with established quality, housekeeping, safety, and environmental guidelines set by the company.
  • Conducting startup shift meetings with incoming staff, covering topics such as safety toolbox discussions, quality toolbox updates, near-miss incidents, EMP (Environmental Monitoring Program) results, and daily plans.
  • Coordinating daily operations performed by hourly production employees to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently while meeting expected environmental quality, housekeeping, and quantity levels.
  • Assigning tasks to shift personnel based on their experience, training, and abilities, optimizing their contributions to overall facility performance.
  • Regularly assessing operator standard work to ensure compliance.
  • Providing coaching and addressing disciplinary matters if necessary.
  • Supplying employees with well-maintained resources necessary for safe job execution.
  • Delivering essential training on proper equipment operation and personal protective gear usage.
  • Identifying training gaps and collaborating with the Area Superintendent to develop a comprehensive training plan.
  • Implementing Job Qualification Standards (JQS) and standard operating procedures.
  • Working closely with employees to enhance their job proficiency, fostering a high level of competence.
  • Conducting regular performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
  • Enforcing discipline within the shift.
  • Discussing disciplinary actions with the plant Human Resource Manager, Production Coordinator, and Department Superintendents as needed.
  • Ensuring the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Maintaining an attitude that accidents are preventable.
  • Making recommendations for improvements to company safety and environmental programs, quality and good manufacturing practices, and production and material handling procedures.
  • Recognizing environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and identifying, discussing, and containing them to keep from affecting employee safety, product quality, and environmental purity.
  • Communicating concern for environment, health, safety, and product quality to all employees.
  • Encouraging employees to work safely with environmental awareness and good manufacturing practices in mind by leading by example.
  • Listening to and responding to employee suggestions and concerns about safety, health, environment, product quality, and housekeeping.
  • Analyzing safety incidents by preparing and completing Incident Investigations by the end of the shift.
  • Escalating incidents to the Plant Safety Manager and Area Superintendent as required.
  • Conducting GMP, safety, health, and environmental inspections.
  • Addressing employee concerns and maintaining good communications and morale on shift and within the department.
  • Keeping plant management informed of all matters affecting the morale and safety of employees.
  • Providing positive reinforcement and recognition when employees are observed producing good results and safe performance.
