About The Position

Four Oaks is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Shift Leader for youth residential care. The role helps create a structured, therapeutic, and safe environment for youth facing behavioral, emotional, and personal challenges. The Shift Leader provides hands-on support to youth and guides Youth Counselors through daily activities, challenges, and successes, serving as a positive role model and supporting young people’s growth. The position is full-time in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with varied shifts. It offers an hourly salary of $18.00–$20.00. The role also involves coordinating shift operations, supporting staff, maintaining accurate documentation, and partnering with the Program Manager and other Shift Leaders to provide consistent, quality care.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Two years of child welfare experience.
Desire to help kids succeed.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor's degree in a social services-related field is preferable.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily shift operations and provide hands-on supervision, guidance, and care to youth in a residential setting.
Help youth develop healthy coping skills, manage emotions, build confidence, and make positive choices.
Use everyday situations to teach life skills, encourage accountability, and reinforce positive behaviors.
Build trusting relationships with youth through consistency, patience, respect, and understanding.
Provide leadership, direction, and encouragement to Youth Counselors while promoting teamwork and a positive environment.
Support daily routines, therapeutic interventions, and behavior management strategies that promote safety and personal growth.
Partner with the Program Manager to coordinate staffing schedules, address coverage needs, and assist with home visit transportation arrangements.
Ensure daily documentation, shift logs, and required reporting are accurate, complete, and timely.
Collaborate with fellow Shift Leaders and program leadership to solve problems and maintain consistent, quality care.
