About The Position

The Shift Lead serves as the primary point of contact between the operations floor and the Shift Supervisor. This role is crucial for ensuring safety and quality standards are met by acting as a role model for the production team and a liaison with the Safety/Quality Managers. The Shift Lead guides the production team to maintain safe, clean, and secure facilities, trains new and reassigned personnel on safe work practices, and actively supports company goals and objectives through communication and personal example. This position is responsible for the efficiency of the production team, ensuring they meet company goals related to safety, quality, speed, delivery, and cost. The Shift Lead will drive continuous improvement and foster a Lean Culture, contribute to performance metrics, and address personnel performance issues through training, coaching, and progressive discipline.

Requirements

  • Able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to create and execute projects/plans and contribute to the development of tactical plans using the appropriate decisions and priorities.
  • Proven experience in optimizing operational organizations to minimize cost per pound.
  • Effectively coach team members and provide performance feedback and development opportunities within areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to drive results and perform in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.
  • Detailed oriented, process driven, with effective planning and implementation skill sets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team leader/member with a diverse group of people at all levels within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an example to the production team regarding Safety/Quality and serve as a liaison between the team and Safety/Quality Managers.
  • Guide the production team to ensure employee safety and maintain safe, clean, and secure facilities.
  • Train new and reassigned personnel in the safe execution of their assigned duties.
  • Receive, acknowledge, deliver, and actively support company goals and objectives through direct communication and personal example.
  • Ensure the efficiencies of the production team and that they achieve company goals related to safety, quality, speed, delivery, and cost.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to achieve manufacturing excellence by leading and reinforcing a Lean Culture.
  • Contribute to the development and establishment of clear performance metrics for the team.
  • Address deficiencies in personnel performance through training, coaching, and the progressive discipline process.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.
