With in-house R&D and engineering, we help customers strengthen supply chains and build confidently in America. Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Shift Lead will assist with everyday production needs on a day-by-day basis. This includes helping with shift startup and shutdown of presses and equipment, assisting in minor repairs on equipment, conducting scheduled checks and audits on equipment, and serving as a backup in multiple roles where needed. The Shift Lead performs various duties to support the manufacturing function by assisting and acting as a multi-disciplined backup on the manufacturing floor as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 – 2 years related experience
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and at time stressful environment
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with shift startup and shutdown of presses and equipment.
  • Assist in minor repairs on equipment.
  • Conduct scheduled checks and audits on equipment.
  • Serve as a backup in multiple roles where needed.
  • Perform backup duties in multiple roles to cover for absences or vacations.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality assurance policies and established standards, such as ISO/IATF 16949, by assisting in developing and maintaining work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Audit for accurate shop floor reporting processes to sustain positive inventory control by reviewing timekeeping and production reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure adherence to transactional discipline and complete necessary ERP transactions.
  • Develop specific short-term procedures within the department to facilitate continuous production.
  • Check production schedules to ensure necessary product is available for processing and optimum efficiency is obtained, including reporting problems and monitoring corrective action.
  • Review master production schedule and coordinate with supervisor, production planner, or production manager for necessary changes to ensure schedule attainment.
  • Monitor statistical process control data, quality concerns, and other production-related data, ensuring it is charted according to existing quality control instructions and procedures.
  • Inform necessary personnel of workflow and possible constraints with respect to meeting the production schedule to maintain open communication channels and facilitate a proactive approach to problem resolution.
  • Facilitate the implementation of continuous improvement principles and procedures, such as Kaizen, by assuming a leadership role in continuous improvement initiatives, evaluating cost-effective methods and procedures, and promoting a teachable approach to improving production flow or processing.
  • Complete required checks and audits such as 5s, LPA, Safety, Scrap, etc.
  • Conduct periodic checks throughout the shift to ensure adherence to production and scrap targets and perform escalation when required.
  • Ensure necessary operator-level PMs are completed.
  • Make necessary adjustments and/or repairs to equipment at the floor level.
  • Complete and perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned.
