Shift Lead (D-Shift)
About The Position
The Shift Lead (D-Shift) provides frontline leadership for assigned manufacturing operations at Reynolds Consumer Products’ manufacturing plant in Concord, North Carolina. The role coordinates daily activities to promote safe, efficient, high-quality production and drives production objectives through workforce coordination, standardized work, continuous improvement, and effective resource utilization. The Shift Lead partners with operations, maintenance, quality, and other support functions to resolve operational issues, develop team capability, and maintain consistent performance, exercising independent judgment within established operating standards. The position is on the night shift, working 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The pay range is USD $27.73–$35.25 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations and standardized work principles.
- Ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities
- Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and service objectives.
- Coach, develop, and direct production employees; communicate priorities, expectations, and operational updates; reinforce standardized work and accountability.
- Promote compliance with company policies, Standard Work Procedures, regulatory requirements, and safe operating practices.
- Lead safety observations, Incident Follow-Up Evaluations, accident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Assist with product quality decisions, including placing product on hold and coordinating containment and corrective actions.
- Monitor product gauge, weight, and quality specifications and ensure production documentation is accurate, complete, legible, and submitted on time.
- Maintain housekeeping, workplace organization, and safe operating conditions in the assigned area.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and production resources to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Lead continuous improvement using Lean manufacturing and Reynolds Business System methodologies, including Standard Work, 5S, Visual Management, A3 Problem Solving, and Kaizen.
- Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions to meet operational targets.
- Make routine operating decisions to maintain workflow and address production interruptions.
- Support equipment start-ups, shutdowns, product changeovers, and operational readiness activities as required.
- Ensure products meet quality standards through process monitoring and team accountability; coordinate resolution and containment of quality issues with Quality and Operations leadership.
- Verify completion of required production documentation and operational records.
- Identify improvement opportunities through root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Support standardized work development and continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations to resolve production issues and improve plant performance.
- Support workforce planning, scheduling, staffing coordination, and operational communication.
