About The Position

The Nothing Bundt Cakes Shift Lead works alongside the Bakery Manager and team members to create high-quality cakes, a warm and welcoming environment, and a superior guest experience. The role shares team leadership and collaborates with the Bakery Manager to drive sales and profitability, handle day-to-day responsibilities, and ensure bakery operations comply with NbC standards. The Shift Lead also reinforces the company’s core values and culture for team members and guests. This position supports guest experience, cake production, brand and merchandise presentation, the work environment, profit-and-loss management, and inventory control. It helps recruit, select, train, direct, coach, and provide feedback to team members; uphold product, service, visual merchandising, food safety, and health standards; and carry out operational and administrative duties. These duties may include production planning, productivity goals, scheduling, ordering supplies, sales and labor reporting, basic accounting and expense control, and payroll processing. The Shift Lead also helps fulfill special orders, open and close the bakery, balance cash drawers, make bank deposits, execute community marketing events, and step into bakery roles as needed. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, according to business needs. Physical duties include lifting and moving supplies and products weighing approximately 50 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
1–3 years of guest-facing experience in retail, restaurant, or foodservice; preferably in a lead role with progressive managerial responsibilities.
Reliable transportation and successful completion of an MVR.
Demonstrated success creating a superior guest experience and coaching others to do the same, training new team members, directing others’ work, and achieving productivity goals.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and comfort learning new technologies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including oral and written communication, and the ability to engage, empower, and motivate a team.
Ability to delegate, set clear expectations, direct work, and manage performance.
Strong organization, resourcefulness, prioritization, and follow-up skills.
Problem-solving ability to assess situations, identify issues, develop possible solutions, and take appropriate action.
Learning agility and a passion for growth and excellence.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Prioritize the guest experience, model strong guest engagement, and foster a positive work environment.
Partner with the Bakery Manager on guest experience, cake production, brand and merchandise presentation, work environment, P&L management, and inventory control.
Support recruiting, selecting, and training team members; direct daily work; and provide performance feedback and coaching.
Uphold product, service, bakery environment, and visual merchandising standards, along with food and health safety standards and company policies and procedures.
Assist with operational and administrative duties, including production plans, productivity goals, scheduling, supply ordering, sales and labor reporting, basic accounting, expense control, and payroll processing.
Co-manage special-order fulfillment through web and email for individual guests and corporate accounts, including large or complex orders and deliveries.
Co-facilitate bakery opening and closing, including cash-drawer balancing and bank deposits.
Help execute local community marketing by coordinating and participating in brand-building events.
Maintain hands-on knowledge of bakery roles and step in to perform duties as business needs require.
Perform tasks outside everyday responsibilities as needed to support team success.
