This field-based/remote position delivers mental health training and support for DAC staff specifically in the Western Region of NC. The role involves delivering mental health training for DAC staff across leadership, career progression, and enrichment programs. It also includes developing and presenting responsive programming on wellness, suicide prevention, stress management, trauma recovery, mental health literacy, and stigma reduction. The position supports peer support units by providing individual and group crisis and critical-incident interventions, including afterhours response. Additionally, it contributes to SHIELD career progression by providing clinical supervision to interns and provisionally licensed staff, and administrative supervision for master’s‑level interns and trainees. The role also involves conducting in‑service training on evidence‑based practices, mental health interventions, HIPAA compliance, ethics, and state law, and participating in afterhours critical‑incident response at NCDAC worksites in coordination with SHIELD’s Peer Support Unit. The position will be servicing the far west region of the state, including counties such as Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Macon, Swain, Jackson, Haywood, Madison, Buncombe, Henderson, Yancey, Avery Mitchell, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford, Watauga, Caldwell, Burke, Catawba, Lincoln, Cleveland, Gaston, and Mecklenburg.
