Requirements

  • Master's degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of related experience; or Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relative to the program area from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Related program area is a degree in a related human services field, criminal justice or public administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of treatment programming for at-risk youth.
  • Experience utilizing data-driven approaches to evaluate program performance to make recommendations for improvement to meet community needs.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between multiple stakeholders to include state, local, and/or nonprofit organizations for community planning resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, technical support and oversight for community wide juvenile justice planning and community program implementation/evaluation to Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils (JCPCs) local government agencies, and JCPC-funded community programs.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Department of Public Safety, local government, and funded programs.
  • Provides input into policy initiatives as well as policy interpretation.
  • Analyzes and interprets data for planning purposes in the community and for gauging program effectiveness.
  • Analyzes program proposals for effective design; provides consultation, training, and monitoring for compliance with standards and overall effectiveness; as well as assurance of program operations and fiscal accountability.
  • Supervises a complex $28.5 million process including guiding, directing, advising and training participants in the planning, allocation, program development, approval, and delivery of essential juvenile justice service continuum.
  • Provides guidance to local partners regarding statute, policy, program design, best practice, organizational structure or budget and finance on a daily basis.
  • Reviews JCPC’s application to continue to participate in the JCPC, determines whether or not program applications are fundable, and gives guidance regarding program design.
  • Provides informed recommendations for Department action.
  • This position is field based, requires a high degree of autonomy and requires minimal direct supervision once initial training is complete.
  • This position requires strong skills in organizational planning, facilitation, and coordination with community partners, along with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • The role also requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
