About The Position

The primary function of this position is to oversee all aspects of our family shelter program for residents and volunteers regarding recreation, meals, chores, sleeping arrangements, security, and program compliance. Significant opportunities exist for relational and spiritual ministry with residents experiencing difficult times. This position reports to the Program Director and SFVRM Management Team. It’s a regular, part-time, non-exempt position located in Northridge, California. This position will need to be available for evenings and weekend shifts (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm). Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits according to applicable guidelines.

Requirements

  • A solid Bible based Christian faith, compatible with RMA’s Statement of Faith and an active member of an Evangelical church.
  • High School Diploma, or GED Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurable under RMA
  • Experience working with cultural dynamics
  • Relevant education & work experience.
  • Able to work well with residents in a supervisory role, assisting in giving counsel and direction where necessary.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including the ability to delegate tasks.
  • Possess fundamental computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all shelter functions such as recreation, meals, chores/cleanliness, sleeping arrangements, security, spiritual content, and program compliance.
  • Opening and/or closing the shelter at specified times which includes, signing residents and volunteers in and out, ensuring that meals are adequately prepared and provided and managing the assignment of bunks, storage spaces, and chores for residents.
  • Responsible for the security and safety of shelter residents, volunteers, and rescue mission property while on duty.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly facility per mission and health department guidelines.
  • Assisting in the oversight of Biblical spiritual content by way of teaching and counseling individuals and groups.
  • Maintaining regular communication and required documentation and other duties as assigned.
  • May assist in preparing and serving meals.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings.
  • Supervises residents of the shelter by upholding and enforcing established guidelines.
  • Supervises volunteers in their designated areas of participation, such as crafts, tutoring, preparing/serving meals, child care, and clean-up.
  • Promote & adhere to RMA’s Safety Program in alignment with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and model safe work practices.
