About The Position

Canyon Creek Services (CCS) is seeking Shelter Staff to create a safe and supportive space for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This role is crucial in maintaining the shelter as a safe haven for women and their children in crisis. We are hiring for two part-time swing and weekend positions, offering meaningful work with flexible hours. Requirements

  • A commitment to our mission, 'Communities Free of Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault'
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to manage documentation
  • Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (Required within 6 months of hire)
  • 40-Hour Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate Certification (training provided, Required within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone calls from clients and staff
  • Complete intakes for new shelter residents during shift
  • Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and safety planning
  • Monitor security systems and conduct regular safety checks
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records
  • Assist with daily shelter operations and resident support
  • Help lead or support activities for residents and their children
  • Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the shelter, including tasks such as room turnovers and regular cleaning.
  • Perform light maintenance and upkeep of the shelter grounds, which may include yard work and snow removal.
