About The Position

It's a great feeling to work for a company that does so much good for others around the world! This position requires fluency in English and Spanish. The work schedule is either 2nd shift (1pm-10pm) or 3rd shift (10pm-6am). The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree or a bachelor’s or undergraduate degree from an accredited program/university, preferably in social work, psychology, criminal justice, sociology, or a related field. A graduate degree in a related field is preferred. Required certifications include First Aid, CPR, and Emergency Behavior Intervention. A minimum of one (1) year of related experience and/or training is required, with two (2) or more years preferred. The role involves meeting federal and state regulatory guidelines, supervising staff, monitoring documentation, assisting with new child and staff orientation, providing input into treatment plans, maintaining knowledge of child management techniques, planning and supervising activities for children, maintaining a secure campus environment, being a positive role model, working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, implementing safety protocols, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding professional and ethical standards. Other responsibilities include supervising zone supervisors to ensure staffing levels meet children's needs, scheduling appointments for children, developing relationships with external professionals, observing and evaluating program resources, traversing the physical plant, communicating effectively in English and Spanish, and meeting deadlines. Requirements include passing pre-employment drug screens and background checks, providing proof of work eligibility, and demonstrating the ability to respond sensitively to the service population, work collaboratively, provide crisis intervention, work in a fast-paced environment with emotional control, maintain computer literacy, and work independently and as part of a team. A working knowledge of Compass Connections policies and procedures is also required.

Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
  • Supervise development of shift schedules and staff assignments.
  • Monitor zone supervisors to ensure that daily progress and activities are documented completely and accurately and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Assist with orientation of new children and staff.
  • Provide input into development of treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of positive child management techniques including verbal redirection, de-escalation, and containment.
  • Plan, organize and supervise activities for children in accordance with the daily activity schedule.
  • Maintain a secure campus environment by making rounds as required and using proper application of radio communication protocols including responding to all radio calls.
  • Be a positive role model for the service population.
  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by the position supervisor.
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with children and other staff in case of an emergency.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.
  • Supervise zone supervisors assigned to this position to ensure staffing levels meet each child’s physical, social, emotional, educational, and recreational needs and comply with contract and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Schedule appointments for children and follow-up to ensure each child’s essential needs are met.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel and/or other professionals including law enforcement officials, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other community resources.
  • Regularly observe and evaluate buildings, grounds, equipment, staff, children, vehicles and other program resources and address issues and problems as needed.
  • Frequently traverse from one area of the physical plant to another.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
  • Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.
