About The Position
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Shelter Lead I to help ensure the safe, efficient, and welcoming operation of our shelter program. This role provides day-to-day guidance to Shelter Attendants, supports guest services, and helps maintain a trauma-informed environment for individuals experiencing homelessness.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of experience in homeless services, emergency shelter, residential programs, behavioral health, human services, or a related field.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must provide TB test clearance
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree preferred.
- Experience mentoring, training, or providing work direction to others preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Support daily shelter operations and ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Provide operational guidance and support to Shelter Attendants during assigned shifts.
- Assist with participant intake, orientations, bed assignments, and exits.
- Respond to participant concerns, conflicts, emergencies, and behavioral incidents.
- Complete incident reports, shift logs, and required documentation.
- Promote a respectful, participant-centered, trauma-informed environment.
- Conduct routine safety and security walkthroughs and report facility concerns.
- Assist with training and onboarding new staff and maintaining program compliance.
