About The Position

The Shell Processor is responsible for preparing ceramic molds for casting using various processing methods. This role involves preparing wax assemblies, applying ceramic slurries and sands, maintaining lot integrity, and adhering to safety protocols. Training is provided on the job, and specific certifications may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Tech Cards.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift and or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred and twenty pounds.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
  • Industrial experience, with experience in the investing area preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous fork lift experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare wax assemblies for the investing process by cleaning them with solvents and blowing them out.
  • Perform multiple dips of wax assembly in ceramic slurries and sands using automated, hand held, and/or mechanical processing methods.
  • Correct automated robot deficiencies and product flow problems as needed.
  • Apply types of wire and wire mesh to strengthen molds.
  • Fill cores with ceramic slurry, sand, rods, and wire.
  • Apply insulation and other ceramic materials to the shell in casting preparation.
  • Deliver molds to casting.
  • Maintain lot integrity throughout shell processing by inputting information into the computer, completing logs and records, and signing paperwork.
  • Take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices, adhering to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
  • May be required to handle hazardous waste.
  • Clean work area.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
