About The Position

The Production Coordinator provides leadership to promote teamwork and continuous improvement. This role assists with budget items, shipments, process control issues, and cross-training. The coordinator is responsible for prioritizing work, managing staffing projections, facilitating scheduling of overtime and vacation, and handling first-line performance issues. They provide objective input for performance reviews and training, coordinate resources between teams, and ensure a harassment/discrimination-free environment. The role also involves process control, setting production goals, updating inventory status, coordinating capacity requirements, and interfacing with customers, engineering, and other departments. Additionally, the Production Coordinator is responsible for recording attendance, ensuring compliance with safe work habits and company policies, and may be required to handle hazardous waste and complete related training. They may also be assigned to multiple work centers or departments.

Requirements

  • Rework Analyst certification or ability to certify within 90 days required.
  • If assigned to the back-end, must be certified in Penetrant Inspection Level II or Visual/Dimensional Inspection within the first 24 months.
  • Must be certified as outlined in Rework Analyst and back-end certifications to be eligible for Step 6.
  • May be required to have additional certifications depending on assigned work center or departments.
  • Willingness, as required by team and production needs, to adjust shift.
  • Willingness, as required by team and production needs, to perform various jobs required to process parts.
  • Willingness, as required by team and production needs, to interface with other teams and support areas.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Instructions must be clear and unambiguous; consistently assures directions are clearly understood resulting in work that rarely, if ever, needs to be redone due to the quality of communication.
  • Ability to make “shop floor” presentations to customers, engineering, and other departments as required or requested.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize work and shift setup in accordance with thru-put requirements.
  • Participate in staffing projections.
  • Facilitate scheduling of team overtime and vacation in accordance with policy.
  • Handle first-line performance issues, communicating respectfully with employees regarding time management and workmanship issues, and notifying supervision when further action is required.
  • Provide objective, fact-based input for Project Team Build/Project Win and for performance reviews and measurements.
  • Train employees on new skills and work with employees to improve performance to satisfactory levels or maintain satisfactory performance. Assign someone to provide training when appropriate.
  • Coordinate resources to move from one team to help another when necessary to meet daily thru-put and support outside departments.
  • Support the maintenance of a harassment/discrimination-free environment.
  • Avoid favoritism or the perception of favoritism in performing leadership duties.
  • May be required to handle hazardous waste.
  • May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.
  • Notify appropriate party/parties when a process is out of control.
  • Facilitate technique card and router changes.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for out of control conditions.
  • Set and display daily team production goals in accordance with TOC disciplines.
  • May participate in presentation of team production status in daily thru-put “line walks”.
  • Update daily status on inventory position.
  • Coordinate long and short term capacity requirements and thru-put commitments with planning/supervisors.
  • Assist with strategies to forecast and attain team measurements.
  • Interface with customers, engineering, and other departments to give process walks and presentations.
  • Record daily attendance on the attendance log confirming with individuals/team that information is accurate and in accordance with policy.
  • Contact appropriate resources if any employee may not be fit for duty and address the issue promptly.
  • Assure compliance with safe work habits and maintenance of proper housekeeping procedures.
  • Assure compliance with company policies and procedures and promptly notify supervision of deviations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
