About The Position

West Star is seeking Sheet Metal Technicians of all levels to join their growing team. This role offers personal and professional growth opportunities in a culture of respect and well-being. As a Sheet Metal Technician, you will encounter new experiences daily and will need a basic to advanced knowledge of turbine aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures, and techniques. You may also be required to help supervise crews and assist in organizing manpower and setting priorities for involved projects.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technician I: 0-2 years’ experience working with sheet metal.
  • Technician II: 2-5 years’ experience as a sheet metal technician on aircraft.
  • Technician III: 5+ years’ experience as a sheet metal technician on aircraft.
  • Team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
  • Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer oriented work habits.
  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.
  • Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.
  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
  • Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Airframe and Powerplant License is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and associated components.
  • Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.
  • Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling when required.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
