About The Position

You will be the Backshop Fabrication, Sheetmetal Technician Level 3 for the Lockheed Martin Greenville Backshop Team. Our team is responsible for Backshop support to for the build, repair and delivery of various aircraft to our customers. As the Backshop Fabrication, Sheetmetal Technician Level 3 you will be responsible for interpreting blueprints to fabricate parts, perform lays out, assembly builds, installs and repairs various to sheet metal and structural assemblies and sub-assemblies for F16 aircraft utilizing precision measuring equipment. The Backshop Fabrication, Sheetmetal Technician Level 3 will also need to be knowledgeable in aircraft structural assembly operation and maintenance to include: Precision Drilling/Reaming, Riveting/installation of various fasteners.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Aviation Sheetmetal or Structures experience, heavy Aviation manufacturing/assembly or repair experience
  • Experience performing Parts fabrication, assembly and installation work using assembly, jigs, fixtures, test equipment, precision measuring instruments, and mechanics hand tools
  • Experience reading and interpreting written specifications, blueprints and engineering drawings, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes
  • Willing to be work 1st, 2nd, or 3x12 weekend shifts
  • Willing to be trained and/or certified in special skills

  • Heat Treating Concepts
  • Machinist skills/Hand Lathe
  • Heavy Aircraft Structural Repair or Aircraft Sheet metal experience
  • Aircraft structural modification or heavy structures overhaul experience
  • Aircraft assembly, maintenance and/or modification experience preferred
  • Will consider commercial experience
  • Experience with drill ream and countersink, hydraulic installs
  • Knowledge of Heat treating concepts, and Machine Shop operations

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting blueprints to fabricate parts
  • Perform lays out, assembly builds, installs and repairs various to sheet metal and structural assemblies and sub-assemblies for F16 aircraft utilizing precision measuring equipment

  • Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear
  • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, twist, and work on or in the aircraft
  • Frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Perform repetitive movements and work overhead
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, FOD-free work area
  • Properly use, handle and dispose of hazardous materials, and toxic or caustic chemicals per Government regulations and company procedures
  • Mission essential functions and other duties may be assigned as required
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed to perform job tasks
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, FOD-free work area
  • Properly use, handle and dispose of hazardous materials, and toxic or caustic chemicals per Government regulations and company procedures
