About The Position

Modern Niagara is looking for skilled Sheet Metal Workers to join our Ottawa team on an evening shift in our fabrication shop. The Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for the fabrication of duct work and fittings. Working closely with forepersons, supervisors, and fellow tradespeople, they ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Success in this role means delivering quality fabrication of sheet metal, maintaining a strong safety record, and contributing to project milestones while supporting a collaborative team environment. Our Sheet Metal Workers play a critical role in bringing complex building systems to life. Their expertise helps ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to specification, directly contributing to client satisfaction and Modern Niagara's reputation for excellence.

Requirements

  • Registered Sheet Metal Worker or Apprentice in good standing.
  • Experience manufacturing commercial and institutional HVAC duct systems.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation to our shop in the east end
  • Willingness and ability to work evening shifts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Local 47 union membership.
  • Experience on large commercial, healthcare, data centre, or institutional projects.
  • Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, and WHMIS training.
  • Experience with prefabricated mechanical systems.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Install Fabricate sheet metal and HVAC systems safely and efficiently.
  • Support successful project delivery through quality workmanship and productivity.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and respectful job site culture.
  • Help deliver projects that support communities where Canadians live, work, learn, and heal.
  • Fabricate HVAC ductwork and associated sheet metal components.
  • Read and interpret,drawings, and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and fabricate sheet metal systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in safety meetings and follow all health and safety policies.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Report issues, deficiencies, or safety concerns promptly.
