About The Position

This SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) position is located in the Component Repair Shop of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) and is part of the CA AASF Stockton. The primary purpose of the SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), WG-3806-10, is to perform sheet metal maintenance on aircraft and components. This is a T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION.

Requirements

  • CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required.
  • Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity.
  • Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.
  • Military Grades: E-4 through E-7 or Enlisted Eligible
  • Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.
  • May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period.
  • Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.
  • Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required.
  • General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with the ability to plan, manufacture, and install cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastenings such as single and double-hem edges and single, double or grooved seams.
  • Must have at least 18 months of experience or training in planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams.
  • Experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment.
  • Experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys.
  • Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments.
