About The Position

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics for projects located in or around Newport News, VA. This is a first shift opportunity, and the pay rate is up to $32/hour based on experience plus $140/per diem to Travelers 75+ miles from the Jobsite. Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a First-Class Sheet Metal Worker
Experience with ventilation systems, foundations, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and fabrication work
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, material types, datum lines, and reference lines
Ability to work with fractional and decimal measurements using a ruler
Ability to lay out and assemble fabrication components
Experience working in a physically demanding environment
Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry
Experience using electric drills, grinders, rivet guns, drill presses, press brakes, shears, and other shop equipment
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug test

Responsibilities

Install foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture
Perform sheet metal fabrication shop work
Read and interpret complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches
Lay out piece parts for fabrication and assembly
Assemble piece parts according to specifications
Use hand tools and shop equipment to complete assigned tasks
Maintain quality workmanship while adhering to all safety standards
