Strategic Support Solutions is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team. You will be assigned to support a premier client in the aerospace and defense industry, performing structural repairs, modifications, and corrosion control on a variety of aircraft. Requirements

  • Minimum Experience: At least three (3) years of direct experience performing sheet metal fabrication and structural repair on thin-skin general aviation airframes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard aviation sheet metal tools and machinery (e.g., rivet guns, bucking bars, pneumatic drills, countersinks, shears, brakes, and precision measuring devices).
  • Strong working knowledge of standard riveting techniques (solid rivets, blind fasteners/CherryMAX, Hi-Loks).
  • Proven ability to work independently, troubleshoot structural discrepancies, and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced hangar environment.
  • Strong professional communication skills and focus on safety culture.
  • Must be able to pass employment verification and an FBI criminal history records check for unescorted access to Security Identification Display Areas (SIDA).

Nice To Haves

  • An FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license is preferred but not required.
  • A practical skills test will be administered as part of the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrosion mitigation, structural repairs, and modifications on aircraft skin panels, ribs, stringers, and structural components.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and document structural damage to sheet metal systems in accordance with structural repair manuals (SRM) and technical data.
  • Work with thin-gauge aluminum and composite surfaces, including cutting, bending, forming, dimpling, and flushing sheet metal parts.
  • Remove, fabricate, fit, and reinstall aircraft panels, skins, cowlings, and fairings.
  • Mechanically strip finishes and prepare surfaces using approved methods and chemical/mechanical treatment processes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering orders, technical schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Accurately document all maintenance actions, logbook entries, parts requisitions, and work orders in compliance with company and FAA/regulatory guidelines.
