About The Position

Metals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Sheet Metal Utility Worker in Torrington, Connecticut. Metals USA is an aluminum and stainless steel distribution center serving the defense, aerospace, and fabrication industries. The position fabricates and assembles sheet-metal parts to customer specifications, operates welding and fabrication equipment, and checks finished work for quality and compliance with requirements. The role also involves production paperwork, shop procedures, and routine equipment maintenance and inspections.

Requirements

Two-year technical degree and/or apprenticeship in sheet-metal fabrication or welding.
Prior experience with all types of welding, including MIG and TIG.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, documents, and blueprints.
Ability to read measuring instruments such as measuring tapes, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
Computer literacy, including an understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.

Responsibilities

Set up metal-fabricating support equipment, including Pemsert, DA grinders, and Timesaver, as needed.
Operate fabrication equipment, including MIG and TIG welding machinery.
Use hand tools as required.
Inspect and test welds and equipment, checking durability and compliance with specified standards.
Fabricate and assemble parts to industrial customer specifications while ensuring product quality.
Apply sheet-metal assembly knowledge to perform fabrication work.
Deburr, sand, and polish finished materials.
Complete production paperwork and follow shop systems, procedures, and daily inspection procedures.
Inspect and measure finished products against requirements to determine whether the process was completed properly.
Perform daily equipment maintenance and inspections to ensure functionality.
