About The Position

The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for grinding, sanding, polishing, and assembly of fabricated sheet metal products using hand, and power tools to ensure a smooth surface while inspecting products for flaws or cracks to ensure the quality and appearance of sheet metal components used in manufacturing of Aerospace and Automotive products.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with sheet metal. Preferably in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Experience operating Angle grinder, Blend motor, Hand sander, Band saw, Hand drills, Rivet Gun, and Rivet Machine are required.
  • Ability to utilize Calipers, Depth Gauge, Height Gauge, and Micrometer.
  • Able to read and understand manufacturing work instructions.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift product up to 50lbs. and frequently stand for extended periods of time.
  • A self-motivated individual with the ability to take directions, and then schedule and follow through with daily tasks and assignments.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read Blueprints preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, sanding, and applying finishes as required.
  • Identify and repair any imperfections on the material (parts) prior to any outside process.
  • Grind, Sand, Trim, Deburr, and Polish materials according to specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control department to ensure that finished products meet established quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Communicate with Maintenance team to report malfunctioning equipment to ensure that tools are in good working order.
  • Work closely with all production team members to create efficient workflow.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including specifications, adjustments made, and time spent on each job.
  • Adhere to production schedules by working within established timelines to meet production goals and delivery deadlines.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in sheet metal finishing techniques to enhance efficiency and quality.
