Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret plans or blueprints
- Proficiency with cutting tools
- Skill in shaping, drilling, and bending sheet metal
- Experience with welding, bolting, brazing, and soldering
Responsibilities
- Choosing the right sheet metals to use for a project based on the plan or blueprints
- Precisely measuring sheet metal and marking it at the proper places to comply with required specifications
- Using cutting tools to prepare sheet metal for use in subsequent steps in manufacturing or as-is installation
- Shaping, drilling and bending sheet metal to fabricate parts or components
- Installing metal sheets on construction sites
- Welding, bolting, brazing and soldering sheet metal to join pieces together
