What you’ll do Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: Responsible for sheet metal design and release of Pickup Box stampings and assemblies for new products, ensuring innovative and optimized solutions for Scout trucks. Manage the design of parts to meet cost, weight, and vehicle performance targets at all design milestones. Conduct analysis of sections, components, and sub-systems to drive the design of part to support the overall vehicle efficiencies. Develop CAD to support design alternative studies and production development of parts. Participate in collaborative design and creation of a simulation environment for testing new body system concepts and ideas related to vehicle handling, safety features, and overall driving experience. Support the development prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing. Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly. Contribute to the design of production facilities for body systems of the Scout trucks & SUVs. Manage resources efficiently including supplier partners. Be a key member within the body structures team and liaison with all Scout functions. Location & Travel Expectations: This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Charlotte, North Carolina This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Pickup Box structures, including all three phases of product development (design, test and launch).
  • Skilled in utilizing CATIA for designing and developing detailed parts.
  • Strong technical skills and expertise in sheet metal design, coupled with a 1st principles approach to problem solving.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • An ability to build strong working relationships with people across all organizational levels.
