About The Position

The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) is seeking a skilled SharePoint professional for a 12-month contract role. This position will focus on system optimization, user support, and continuous improvement initiatives within the SharePoint environment. The SharePoint Specialist will report to the Manager, IT, and will be responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the SharePoint system across the organization. This role supports system operations and services while collaborating with the IT team, Records Management Advisor, and various departments to deliver effective, user-focused solutions. Key responsibilities include managing the SharePoint site, resolving system and access issues, ensuring optimal performance and usability, providing training and support to business users, and contributing to project delivery and continuous improvement. The role also involves providing Level 1 IT support to end users for day-to-day technical issues. All College staff are expected to contribute to a public protection mandate, aligning with the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) and reconciliation commitments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of enterprise SharePoint Online administration experience.
  • University degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, including records management, retention policies, classification, and compliance.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting SharePoint, Power Platform, and Teams solutions.
  • Strong understanding of business process improvement and automation using Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Knowledge of the social, economic, political, and historical impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples, along with familiarity with Indigenous-specific anti-racism, cultural safety, and relevant foundational documents and legislative commitments and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead initiatives and engage stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach to working in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong customer service focus.
  • The ability to work independently on projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using SharePoint migration tools (e.g., ShareGate) for content migration and restructuring is considered an asset.
  • ITIL certification and experience with IT service management practices are considered as an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the transition of business units to an updated SharePoint architecture, partnering closely with various departments to understand needs, define requirements, and ensure a smooth adoption process.
  • Develop and execute project plans for SharePoint redesign implementation and migration activities, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Configure, administer, and maintain SharePoint Online environments, including site creation, permissions management, and governance.
  • Collaborate with the Records Management Advisor to implement and maintain records management practices, including retention, classification, and compliance using Microsoft Purview.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, system roadblocks, and user access challenges to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Identify risks and barriers to successful implementation, proactively recommending and implementing solutions.
  • Support system operations by monitoring performance, maintaining system integrity, and resolving incidents in a timely manner.
  • Design, build, and optimize SharePoint sites, libraries, and structures aligned with business needs and best practices.
  • Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to end users to drive adoption and effective use of SharePoint.
  • Develop user documentation, standard operating procedures, training materials, and best practice guides.
  • Collaborate closely with IT, the Records Management Advisor, and project teams to align SharePoint solutions with broader organizational systems and strategies.
  • Assist with generating reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the SharePoint project.
  • Prepare data-driven insights for the IT Manager, executive leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Provide Level 1 IT support by responding to user inquiries, troubleshooting basic technical issues, and escalating complex issues as required.
