We are seeking dependable, hard-working individuals to join our foundry team in an entry-level Shake Out / Pour Off role. This position plays a key part in our metal casting operations, working hands-on with molds, molten aluminum, and specialized equipment to produce high-quality castings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent. (Required)
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and documentation.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • 6- 12 months of previous foundry experience for new employees. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and preheat ladles before use to prevent moisture contact with molten metal
  • Tap molten aluminum into ladles safely and efficiently
  • Take metal temperature readings using immersion thermocouples
  • Set and operate nitrogen degas lances
  • Verify metal density using vacuum slugs and Reduced Pressure Test (RPT)
  • Remove slag and dross from melt surface to ensure clean metal
  • Coordinate with molders to confirm mold readiness and proper venting
  • Operate cranes, monorails, or forklift-mounted ladles to transport molten metal
  • Manually pour ladles using precise techniques to minimize turbulence
  • Observe metal flow and regulate speed for consistent mold filling
  • Apply hot tops to risers as needed
  • Record melt and pour temperature data
  • Return empty ladles to preheat stations for reuse
  • Clean and inspect pouring equipment (ladles, skimmers, tools) after each heat
  • Assist with slag disposal and general foundry cleanup
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free pour floor
  • Monitor cooling and shakeout readiness for freshly poured molds
  • Clean and inspect castings after shakeout
  • Report casting issues to Molder and Lead Hand
  • Use proper PPE: face shields, safety glasses, hard hats, neck guard, hearing protection, Vinex coat and jacket, CarbonX shirt and long underwear, steel toe boots, spats, gloves
  • Follow all safety procedures for molten metal handling
  • Maintain safe distances and clear communication during group pours
  • Report safety hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately to lead hand or supervisor
  • Assist molders with pulling patterns
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth production flow
