About The Position

The Shade Room Clerk is responsible for inspecting and sorting finished fabric to ensure color shade consistency and compliance with customer specifications. This position plays a critical role in maintaining fabric quality prior to cutting, shipment, or further processing. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong color discrimination and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow color standards and inspection procedures
  • Basic documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fabric inspection, textile quality, or dyeing/finishing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inspect finished fabric for shade consistency using approved shade room lighting
  • Compare fabric against approved shade standards, lab dips, and master samples
  • Identify, separate, and label fabric by shade, lot, and roll number
  • Flag off-shade or non-conforming fabric and report findings to supervision
  • Record inspection results accurately in logs or electronic systems
  • Work closely with dye house, finishing, and quality teams to resolve shade issues
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of inspected fabric rolls
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shade room area
  • Follow all safety, quality, and standard operating procedures
