About The Position

The Sexual Assault Coordinator will provide direct advocacy, assistance, and follow-up to victims/secondary victims of sexual assault. This role involves crisis intervention, intakes/assessments, legal advocacy, victim accompaniments, workshop facilitation, safety planning, assistance with CVC applications and IVSS setup, protective order assistance, outreach education, community presentations, and information and referral services. The coordinator will also assist residential and non-residential clients by determining and meeting their needs through collaborations and resource sharing. A key part of the role is providing crisis intervention via a 24-hour hotline and face-to-face, and establishing positive working relationships with police, hospitals, schools, and criminal justice systems to offer support and education regarding sexual violence. The position requires rotating on-call status for emergency and non-emergency accompaniments to court, medical, and law enforcement agencies, and assisting with Community Awareness Events for Sexual Assault. The coordinator will represent the agency within Sexual Assault Response Teams in all served counties.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of Experience or Equivalent years of experience in social services
  • Computer knowledge of programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritize changing work and caseload.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity and knowledge about the issues of inter-personal crimes addressed by BATP.
  • Ability to be on location to on-call status areas within 45 minutes.
  • Must have clean driving record and be insurable.
  • No drivers under the age of 21
  • No DUI, reckless driving, suspended license violations
  • No more than 2 moving violations in a 3-year period for drivers over the age of 25
  • No more than 1 moving violation in a 3-year period for drivers ages 21-25
  • Must provide and maintain valid proof of personal automobile insurance.
  • Must have ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs for an extended distance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct advocacy, assistance, and follow-up to victims/secondary victims of sexual assault, including crisis intervention services, intakes/assessments, legal advocacy services, victim accompaniments, workshop(s) facilitation, safety planning, assistance with CVC applications, IVSS setup and information, protective order assistance, outreach education, community presentations, and information and referral services.
  • Assist Residential and Non-Residential sexual assault clients in determining and meeting their needs through collaborations, partnerships, and resource sharing.
  • Provide crisis intervention via the sexual assault 24-hour hotline and face-to-face.
  • Establish positive working relationships with police, hospitals, schools, and criminal justice systems to offer support and bring education and awareness regarding sexual violence.
  • Rotate in performing sexual assault emergency and non-emergency accompaniments to court, medical, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Assist with Community Awareness Events for Sexual Assault.
  • Represent the agency within the Sexual Assault Response Teams in all counties served.
