About The Position

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. The SANE exam may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid and current Texas RN license.
• Current SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) certification from the Texas Attorney General office or currently in-progress of certification and obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Current TNCC certification.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.
• Two years of Emergency Department or Acute Care Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to sexual assault victims.
• Conduct medical-forensic exams.
• Administer prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
• Perform photographic documentation.
• Make referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up and support.
• Participate in legal proceedings.
