About The Position

Crisis Services is seeking a Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program Manager to lead our SAFE Program. We are looking for an experienced professional from the nursing, public health or healthcare administration fields who is interested in leading our commitment to provide a coordinated, respectful response to sexual assault victims across Western New York. If not already certified as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), Crisis Services will support the necessary steps to gain certification. Assistance with relocation to the Buffalo, NY area may be available. Crisis Services is a 24-hour comprehensive crisis center and community resource whose first responders save lives by restoring safety, promoting emotional strength, and reducing the impact of trauma through intervention, education, prevention, and community collaboration. The Crisis Services’ Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program provides on-site forensic services at hospitals to individuals who have been sexually assaulted within a 120-hour period and are seeking help. The SAFE Program Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the SAFE Program, ensuring trauma informed, patient centered forensic services for hospitals contracted with Crisis Services. The Program Manager oversees the forensic nursing team, including recruitment, training, development, case review, and program evaluation. The Program Manager also partners with hospital leadership to maintain high-quality health and forensic care for sexual assault patients, strengthen policies and procedures, and monitor program outcomes. As a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team in Erie and Niagara counties, the Program Manager collaborates with law enforcement, district attorneys' offices, forensic labs, advocate programs, and regional SANE programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing, or Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) or Healthcare Administration from an accredited college and/or university.
  • At least seven (7+) years of direct patient/client care, clinical, or forensic experience.
  • At least five (5+) years of program management or leadership experience.
  • Proven skills in program development, staff supervision, budget oversight, policy implementation, and quality assurance.
  • Excellent communication, crisis intervention, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer systems and platforms, electronic recording keeping, and other technology.
  • For RNs: Current licensure in NYS as an RN is required.
  • A valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to a usable vehicle.
  • Possess strong knowledge and interest in the areas of sexual and domestic violence dynamics and effects, forensic services and trauma informed care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, as well as within a team setting.
  • Have experience with quality assurance/improvement, public speaking and training improvement.
  • Bring strong problem-solving skills and a “common sense” approach with the ability to make quick decisions, when necessary.
  • Display superior ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams, communicate program needs, and work with peers.
  • Display professionalism and leadership qualities when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, trauma informed care, coordinated community response and grant-funded programs is highly desirable.
  • SANE certification by NYS Department of Health strongly preferred.
  • If not already certified as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), Crisis Services will support the necessary steps to gain certification.
  • Assistance with relocation to the Buffalo, NY area may be available.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled administrative on-call responsibilities outside of standard business hours to ensure 24-hour response to hospitals.
