About The Position

The Sewing Operator operates industrial sewing machines to produce gear according to job specifications and quality standards. The role includes preparing machines by changing needles and thread, oiling the machine, changing bobbins, securing attachments, and adjusting machine guides and attachments as needed. The operator works with production teammates to meet delivery deadlines, customer requirements, and production goals while maintaining a clean and safe sewing area. No prior experience is required; training is provided.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and comprehend English-language instructions.
Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work well with a team.
Ability to follow instructions consistently with minimal supervision and read job cards and follow sewing standards.
Ability to stand, sit, walk, and bend as needed.
Hearing and vision within normal ranges, with or without correction.
May need to lift objects up to 30 pounds using proper lifting technique.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of industrial sewing experience; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Operate industrial sewing machines and prepare machines by changing needles and thread, oiling, changing bobbins, and securing attachments.
Sew gear in accordance with job specifications and job cards.
Mount sewing machine attachments, including needles, threads, pattern plates, or cutting blades, and adjust machine guides according to job specifications.
Work with the team to produce correct, quality products, meet delivery deadlines, and achieve production goals set by the supervisor.
Understand quality requirements and the role's impact on on-time delivery, material tracking, and customer requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in the sewing area.
Demonstrate productivity that helps decrease lead time.
Work effectively with other production associates and communicate with supervisors and other plant departments.
Follow instructions consistently with minimal supervision and follow sewing standards.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow company rules and regulations.
Multitask as needed.
