Sewing Machine Operator
About The Position
At Thuasne, the mission is to restore mobility and improve quality of life through the design, development, and manufacture of medical devices in orthopedics, medical compression, and sports. The Sewing Machine Operator performs sewing and related manufacturing tasks on a range of products, including socks, sleeves, and other medical garments. The role also includes scanning work orders, quality inspections, janitorial work in the manufacturing area, and contributing to departmental quality meetings and Lean initiatives. The operator follows priorities and work-order due dates and may help in other departments as needed.
Requirements
- No formal education required.
- Six months to one year of experience.
Responsibilities
- Surge the trim in colored thread and insert labels on all socks.
- Cut and sew Compressogrip sleeves, shrinkers, humerals, ulnars, and fractures.
- Apply bone rings and fold Compressogrip.
- Tack torsos.
- Presew socks prior to processing.
- Make casting pants and cast socks.
- Cut and sew knee sleeves.
- Scan work orders into the system.
- Perform quality control inspections.
- Provide general janitorial work throughout the manufacturing area.
- Cut splits in pelvic socks.
- Hem Sterling products.
- Follow priorities and work-order due dates when completing initiatives.
- Actively participate in department quality meetings and Lean initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including helping in other departments as needed.
